RiotGirl, lots of things can happen to your pet by using the lab ray. You can gain OR loose stat points(endurance--which is health, strength, defense, movement). You can also gain levels, or loose levels--even have your pets level be reduced to Level 1(that has happened to my pets many times). It can change your pet's species, color and gender. Sometimes you will like the results, sometimes you wont. I do suggest that if you have a specific pet that you use for battledome battles, and have spent the time training it, do NOT use the lab ray on him/her. Just today, I had my Green Koi changed into a Blue Chia.
